Lewis showcases table tennis equipment at RYO


Former Caribbean men’s singles table tennis bronze medalist Idi Lewis donated a number of equipment to the Rasville Youth Organization.

The RYO is coached by another former national player in Melissa Dow-Richardson.

Lewis, who is attached to the Malteenoes TT Club as coach, handed over two table tennis rackets and a bag of balls to the organization.

“You have the talent and with the guidance of Melissa I know you can go further and make not only the community proud, but also your parents and even your playmates,” he told the rally.

According to Lewis, who rose to the top of the sport at the junior level when he won the Caribbean men’s singles title, the purpose of the donation is to help the development of players, even as they strive to achieve their potential. .

The club has a rising star in Tyriq Saunders, 10, who has been invited to train for this year’s pre-cadet championships scheduled in Cuba.

Dow-Richardson, a founding member of the organization, praised Lewis for the timely gesture which she says will be used to benefit young players.

She revealed that she has planned a development tour for the club at Bartica this weekend, where she can further assess the development of her charges, especially Saunders and the highly talented pair of Edward Favorite and Delmar Leadbetter.
